Samsung Moment™ (SPH-m900) User Reviews
Android is going to be the format to sell to the public in the future.I reccomend more simpler phones for senior citizens that may not be so "tech savvy". I like new gadgets and try to stay current to my needs and not shoot out to far. Over all, the Moment is a great phone with lots of tricks."
"I purchased this phone about a month ago. I got in instead of the HTC Pro 2. I love that it syncs with google, and my aol. This is awesome. I use this phone far more than I've used any other phone, and it's even got my "weather" feature that I just had to have. I have some minor issues with the touch screen.. I'm still working out precisely "where" to touch in order to get it right. I'm not used to touch technology. It's probably user error. Love the slide out QWERTY. (note, I use this instead of the touch screen, whenever possible). Love the display. It's like watching a miniature version of my HDtv. The only cons I've found with it thus far: Mute button on the touch screen while making a phone call will activate when you put your phone to your face. I see no way to disable this, but I'm still learning the phone. Another con, but with a pro.. Battery wears out fairly quickly, but that has not yet been an issue, because I purchased a car charger with the phone, and I simply grab my USB charger and take it with me to work. It does come with a wall charger. This is still in the plastic, since it's so easy to to plug in the USB. So, fast use of battery life, but exceptionally easy to charge. In any case, I've been pretty happy with this phone overall. I could see a few improvements. But, I'd definitely buy it again. It's great. Love Samsung!!!"
Has it all! Date: December 3, 2009 "This is by far the best phone I've ever had. My two sons have iPhones...let the games begin. Needless to say, they're both jealous after only 2 weeks of me having the Moment.
Congratulations Samsung/Android...Watch your back, Apple!"
No longer a "phone" this is a computer! Date: November 29, 2009 "I just switched to Sprint after searching for a carrier that would allow me to make full use of a phone without nickle and dime-ing me to death with hidden charges or extra fee's to unlock features. I picked up 3 of these phones and a Rant for my youngest. The Moment takes about 45 minutes to learn. It's running Android 1.5 "Cupcake" and is fairly sparse with its applications. The calculator is very simple, no tips or conversions, the camera doesn't offer any controls beyond turning the flash on or off (no panorama or photo touch-up gizmo's, photo's are taken in 2048x1536 JPEG.) The Camcorder is just as void of features. It has Sprint TV features, some Google apps (Talk, Contacts, Email). And a game demo of Bejewled. So, 3 star for features - there's lots of room to improve the apps. I'm hopeful that the Android Market place can shine through and add the bells and whistles. Like many phones the speaker is on the back of the phone so listening to music is improved by tuning the device up-side-down. The front of the phone does have a speaker for normal phone conversation, but it's not as loud as the rear speaker. The side volume controls are easy to find and work as expected. The display is gorgeous and large. And the processor is fast. Surfing the Internet is fun and draws a similar picture to my desktop. My impression is that the browser experience isn't as good as the one on an iPhone or iTouch, lacking is gestures to zoom-in or out or copy and paste. But the zoom is compensated by a virtual key for magnification, and copy and paste is hiding under the menu button. The battery life could always be better, but I'm never far from a USB port or AC outlet, so I can easily extend the life. Many battery companies offer a portable battery charger, such as the Energi To Go, that will extend the life with several extra hours of use. Included in the package was the phone, an instruction manual, getting started guide, features guide, registration card, the required legal documentation, mini-USB wall charger, ear-bud headset with mic, and a 2 GB Micro SD RAM card with adapter, and a USB to Micro PC cable adapter. Overall Samsung is responsible for creating this piece of fantastic hardware and offering a solid package. Google needs to step-up their offerings of features. Many of the lacking features can be added through applications downloaded in the future, so I'm going to go ahead and recommend this phone."
One of current best out there... Almost, ok not. Date: November 12, 2009 "I've own a number of Samsung and HTC phones and I've used and modified Windows Mobile device ROMs for a long time. Also the Network Administrator for a company that uses ActiveSync very heavily. So I decided to make the jump to Android because of the Open OS idea of Android. (Hoping it is rooted soon) This phone seems to hit just about every area you need in a PDA style phone. I'll have to agree with everyone else the battery life is absolutely horrible. I just got rid of a HTC 6800 that would last 3 to 4 days on standby with only ActiveSync running, this phone a day and a half tops. Under normal phone usage you'll be lucky to get a normal 8 hour work day out of it. That’s with Bluetooth, wifi, and GPS disabled. Samsung, you need to figure this one out. This isn’t expectable for me to recommend this phone for business use while this problem exists.
The operating system itself lacks the integration of social networking that other phones have, as far as contacts go. It’s nice to see all that information on your individual contacts. While this is ill important for business use now days business people do not want to carry two phones, but with the promise of Android 2.0 in the first quarter of 2010 I’ll wait and see if these improvements come about. Currently with the Android 1.5 release on this phone, it has a lot of lock up problems that cause the phone to reboot. The phone cannot read the battery level properly and causes the phone to reboot and lockup once the battery has dropped below 15%. There are sound issues also when the phone goes in to sleep mode or there is heavy motion detected by the phone sound applications eventually lockup like CD with a scratch. So don’t plan on using Pandora in the car. GPS actually works well for me with most applications I’ve tested.
I have the same Bluetooth issues as described on other reviews. Fail.
CDMA internet startup from the moment you request something to the moment you get it is just flattened in comparison to the Palm Pre or Iphone. Not good. ActiveSync on this phone is flawless from what I’ve seen! Not one thing missed. Anybody correct me if I’m wrong, but I was wowed by this. I didn’t not expect 3rd part app to be so integrated in to the Android platform. Way to go. The camera needs a lot of work. White balance and auto corrects have the pictures come out looking like digital camera you pull from the bargain bin at a gas station. Release Android 2.0, fix the battery issues/power management issues, Bluetooth issues, sound lockups, upgrade the radio firmware for faster response time, and more social network integration and you might have something. Right now it’s more of an expensive toy."
